The coast of North Sardinia is dotted with splendid beaches, too many to list in one post. Unsurprisingly, this area of the island is the best known and most frequented by celebrities and artists who spend their holidays here every year.

So, which are the North Sardinia beaches that are truly unmissable?

We have selected for you the most stunning ones, some reachable by sea, others by land.

Pink Beach - Budelli Island

On the small island of Budelli, in the La Maddalena archipelago, is one of the most famous beaches in the world, the “Spiaggia Rosa” (Pink Beach), made unique by the hues of nature.

The pink colour of its sand comes from the tiny fragments of marine organisms (corals and mollusc shells) that are deposited on the shore.

However, for this reason, its ecosystem is very fragile. To preserve it, the beach is off limits, with a ban on reaching the shore.

But it can be admired from the sea. If you want to experience it, our crew will take you to see it on board the Lady Luna 3: the Pink Beach is the first stop on our tour of the archipelago.

Cala Corsara - Spargi Island

Among the best beaches in North Sardinia, we must mention Cala Corsara.

This is on Spargi, another island of the La Maddalena archipelago. This beautiful beach is known for its fine white sand and crystal-clear waters.

In this breathtaking landscape, the pale sand is framed by the island’s distinctive rocky outcrops and dense vegetation of junipers and sea lilies.

Unlike the Pink Beach, Cala Corsara can be visited: you can swim in its crystal-clear waters and enjoy its fine sand. It is the third stop on our tour of the archipelago, and we will spend an hour there.

Porto Ferro Beach

On the north-western coast of Sardinia is Porto Ferro beach, a kilometre-long stretch of golden sand with reddish streaks from which it takes its name. Its crystal-clear waters alternate between shades of deep blue and emerald green.

The beach is enclosed by red trachyte rocks. The wind conditions make it a favourite destination for surfers. At the back of the beach, a large pine wood separates it from Lake Baratz, the only natural lake in Sardinia.

Porto Ferro is one of the best-known beaches in northern Sardinia, only 20 km from Alghero and easily accessible by car.

La Pelosa Beach - Stintino

Who has never heard of it?

Together with those we have just mentioned, the Pelosa beach is an icon of North Sardinia, with its crystal-clear waters and shallow seabed that reaches far into the distance, reminiscent of the Caribbean beaches.

The blue shades of the sea meet the whiteness of the fine and almost impalpable sand, which builds into soft dunes as you move away from the shore. Only the juniper trees remind us that we are in Sardinia.

The beach is located 2 km from Stintino and is easily accessible by car. However, in the summer season, a limited number of beachgoers are allowed, meaning you need to book a place to go there.

Argentiera Cove

One of the most fascinating beaches in northern Sardinia, Argentiera stands out from the others due to its characteristic landscape.

Indeed, just behind the beach stands the now-abandoned mining village of Argentiera, which had been built to exploit the area’s argentiferous lead and zinc seams.

If you are looking for a beach away from the crowd, this is the perfect destination. The cove has few visitors even during the high season, despite boasting crystal-clear, multi-hued waters. The sand is coarse and grey; the beach is divided into two sections by the mine works.

Framed by the old mine buildings, the Argentiera beach lies in the territory of the municipality of Sassari.

Cala Brandinchi - San Teodoro

On the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, San Teodoro hides one of its most enchanting beaches, Cala Brandinchi, with white sand and shallow turquoise waters.

The beach is long and narrow and has breathtaking views of the coast and the island of Tavolara, while the vegetation is marked by the scented juniper trees, typical of Sardinian flora.

The seabed at Cala Brandinchi is clear and shallow, suitable for families with children, while the rocks in the distance are home to a diverse sea life, perfect for snorkelling.

The beach is easily accessible along the road to Olbia. In the high season, booking is required to preserve the ecosystem.

In conclusion, there are many beautiful beaches in North Sardinia, but not all of them can be reached by car. If you want to experience the most hidden coves, you can always book from our website and board our Lady Luna 3!
